<ins> — Inserted text

The <ins> element represents text that has been inserted into a document. It pairs with <del> to make edits explicit. The datetime attribute indicates when the addition occurred.

When to use it

You want to show an addition to existing content: a date correction, a price update, a clarification. Combine with <del> to show what was replaced.

What you gain

Accessibility: same treatment as <del>: NVDA and JAWS can announce "inserted" depending on verbosity settings. Combined with <del>, the user understands what changed.

Code example

<p>
  The project deadline is
  <del datetime="2026-04-01">April 15</del>
  <ins datetime="2026-04-01">April 30</ins>.
</p>
