Display contact information, not in a
, not in a

— Contact information
The
element provides contact information for the author or owner of the document (or the nearest
). It is not for arbitrary postal addresses: it is specifically for contact details.
When to use it
You want to indicate how to reach the author of an article or the owner of a site: email, profile link, headquarters address. Place it inside a
to associate the contact details with the right context.
What you gain
Accessibility: screen readers identify the block as contact information, helping users quickly find how to reach the author.
